Celebrate International Family Story Month with Your Families
Thanksgiving Day in November is an important day to show your thanks and love to people around you. But did you know, that November is also known as National Family Story Month, a time to share family stories and to encourage the connection between families.
As 2021 draws to a close, you can throw a “family story party” where you can reminisce about old stories and share updates with each other. Here are 4 ways to celebrate International Family Story Month and have fun with your family!
1. Know your traditions
What are your family traditions? Many of our young generations might not know. To improve the relationship between family, you can visit the grandparents together with the kids. Let the elderly share their traditions and memories, such as historical experiences, recipes, culture, festival traditions, etc. Record the stories and collect the photos to make a memoir so that the precious traditional culture can be passed on.
2. Share food
When the family gets together, food is a must! Sharing recipes and food brings the relationship closer. Share some recent stories and show your care for each other during dinner, it will strengthen the bond.
3. Play a game
Play some games together after dinner. For example, plan a “Family Quiz” in which family members are asked to answer family-related questions, with a penalty for guessing wrong. Through games, we enhance the concept of family and the importance of family contact.
4. Show your heart
It’s not the cost of the gift, it’s the thought that counts. At family get-togethers, plan a gift exchange session as an opportunity to express your love and caring. Share the joy of receiving gifts.
During the epidemic, people became estranged from each other. In this National Family Story Month, get together with family and friends you haven’t seen in a long time.
